A series of 4 weekly 3 hour sessions exploring baking and a wide variety of different cake decorating techniques and skills - 4 x 3 hours (£162)
This course (which is a series of four 3 hour long sessions taking place at the same time each week for 4 weeks) covers many key skills essential to baking & decorating sponge cakes in a way that allows you to build on the skills you learn, and practice the trickier aspects whilst working towards an impressive final project. The course is run in four weekly sessions (either on a weekday morning or evening - the date and time listed on the website when you book is the date and time of the first session, there are then three more sessions which follow weekly) and you will leave with a wide range of skills in both baking and cake decoration.
Session 1: Bake & decorate a small sponge cake with piped buttercream & small sugar cutout shapes (see Piped Rose Buttercream class for more details - but this session also involves baking the cake)
Session 2: Cover a round sponge cake with buttercream & coloured sugarpaste, craft roses & leaves (see Cake Decorating Part 1 description for more details)
Session 3: Cover a square chocolate cake with ganache & sugarpaste, craft a bow, pipe royal icing details (see Cake Decorating Part 2 description for more details)
Session 4: Final project - tiered cakes, shaped cakes and other skills & techniques guided by you depending on the project you choose to create. This can be as simple or as ambitious as you like!
This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who already bake regularly but want a thorough grounding in making their cakes look more professional. By the end of the course, with practice, you will be able to decorate cakes in a wide variety of different styles. Everyone who completes the course will receive a certificate of completion and a full set of handouts containing all of the recipes and techniques explored on the course.
